KCC, the supposed 'white knight', is in dilemma having a huge loss. KCC had assisted the merger of Samsung corp. and Jeilmogic at the cost of more than 600 billion won.

Later on, the stock values of the three companies, Samsung Corp, Jeilmogic and KCC dropped down at the same time causing the estimated loss of about one trillion Won. Jung Mong Jin, the president of KCC, tried to defend the company's stock value by having his own children buy its stock shares, but unfortunately, it didn't work as well.

삼성물산에 '백기사'를 자처한 KCC가 막대한 손실을 떠안으며 진퇴양난에 빠졌다. KCC는 6000억원이 넘는 자금을 들여 삼성물산 주식을 매수, 삼성물산과 제일모직 합병을 거들었다.

하지만 이후 삼성물산과 제일모직, KCC 주가가 동반 하락하며 1조원에 달하는 평가손실을 입게 됐다. 급기야 정몽진 KCC 회장은 자녀들까지 동원해 자사주를 매입해 주가 방어에 나섰지만 별다른 효과를 보지 못하고 있다.

17일 유가증권시장에서 KCC는 전날과 같은 39만8000원에 보합 마감했다. KCC 주가는 삼성물산과 제일모직의 합병 주주총회 전날인 지난달 16일 55만2000원에서 현재까지 27.89% 하락했다.

같은 기간 시가총액은 5조8070억원에서 4조1870억원으로 1조6200억원이 증발했다.
